Overview
Specialist Pharmacist (Paediatrics) role at NHS Scotland. Based at the Royal Hospital for Children within the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology pharmacy team. Band 7, 37 hours.
Responsibilities
* Be an active member of the multidisciplinary team delivering the safe and effective use of medicines with emphasis on the safe prescribing, administration and monitoring of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and the associated supportive care.
* Support advancement and service developments within clinical pharmacy, including technician-led medicines management initiatives and pharmacist-led prescribing initiatives.
* Maintain and develop Chemotherapy Electronic Prescribing Systems to support the organisation\'s compliance with national directives.
* Work as an integral member of the Clinical Pharmacist Team in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology and the wider Women and Children’s service.
* Collaborate with the Paediatric Pharmacy, Aseptic Preparation and Paediatric Clinical Trials Teams to provide a consistent, high-quality clinical pharmacy service to Paediatric Haematology and Oncology patients.
Qualifications and experience
* Relevant post-qualification experience and completion of SVTS stage 2 or equivalent.
* Independent prescriber or working towards independent prescriber status.
* Experience in paediatric or haematology/oncology settings is desirable.
* Excellent management and communication skills with a flexible approach to working.
Work pattern
The post holder will participate in a 5 out of 7 day work pattern and will be required to participate in the delivery of pharmacy services at weekends, public holidays and on-call as part of a rota.
