Our client is seeking a high-level GM to oversee multiple business functions, drive performance, and support the continued expansion of an established automotive group.This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational management.
Basic Salary: Up to £65,000(depending on experience)
OTE: Up to £85,000
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Location: Worcestershire
About the Role :
As General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring all departments are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. You’ll lead multiple teams across accounts, sales, workshop, and emerging business functions, ensuring productivity, profitability, and exceptional service delivery.You’ll play a pivotal part in shaping the culture, developing teams, and implementing the systems and processes needed to support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities Strategic & Financial Leadership:
1. Develop and implement business strategies aligned with company objectives.
2. Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
3. Monitor profitability and analyse financials to drive continuous improvement.
4. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Operational Oversight:
5. Ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations across all departments.
6. Implement quality assurance measures and process optimisation.
7. Monitor resource utilisation, work flow efficiency, and output quality.
People Management & HR:
8. Lead, motivate, and inspire a high-performing workforce.
9. Oversee recruitment, training, and employee development.
10. Manage performance reviews, engagement initiatives, and conflict resolution.
11. Promote diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing.
Accounts & Financial Controls:
12. Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
13. Monitor cash flow, risk management, and financial governance.
14. Work with external accountants on detailed financial analysis.
Sales Leadership:
15. Oversee sales performance, KPIs, SLAs, and quality of delivery.
16. Support sales teams with commercial insight and business alignment.
17. Ensure systems, tools, and processes are utilised effectively.
Workshop Oversight:
18. Assess workshop efficiency, productivity, and output quality.
19. Align workshop activity with profitability targets.
20. Support managers and technicians to deliver high standards of repair and service.
New Business Support:
21. Support the development of new functions, including inventory, parts, and facilities.
22. Oversee stock efficiency, facility maintenance, and operational infrastructure.
23. Identify opportunities for innovation, diversification, and growth.
About You:
24. Proven experience in a senior leadership or GM-level role within an automotive or engineering environment.
25. Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, KPIs, and financial performance.
26. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, and inspire multi-disciplinary teams.
27. Highly organised, strategic, and solutions-focused.
28. Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise at board level.
29. Capable of delivering growth through operational excellence and continuous improvement.
