The role:
The MSK-Physiotherapy Service delivers high quality care to the local population via triage, assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a diverse range of conditions and patient types in a variety of environments, playing a key role in contributing to health improvement and health promotion.
The service incorporates service management, planning and development within a defined budget and within a multi-professional framework. All staff within the Service must comply with NHS GG&C, Policies in addition to complying with Professional Standards and Rules of Professional Conduct. All qualified professional staff must hold valid registration via the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. There are two positions available in this post
2. One post is full-time (37hrs) and the other is part-time (21.6hrs)
3. These posts will be based in the East quadrant
4. The shift pattern for these posts are Monday - Friday
5. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours
Key responsibilities:
6. Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Quadrant MSK-Physiotherapy Manager for day to day management of a group of MSK-Physiotherapist. This will include staff management and development, KSF reviews, attendance management reviews, all aspects of recruitment and interview and first line disciplinary proceedings
7. Management of complaints in line with NHS GG&C Policy and ensure
8. subsequent improvements where required within the clinical area
9. Management, provision and planning of patient care in a variety of O.P. settings
10. Full assessment and diagnoses of patients' conditions in order to establish a physiotherapy treatment/ management plan at an advanced level.
11. Ability to work with a diverse group of patients incorporating all age groups with complex medical needs with a range of acute and long term Musculoskeletal conditions
12. Management and supervision of MSK Out-patient caseloads and monitoring of teams caseload taking immediate corrective action where required
13. Undertake referral management and allocation of cases to appropriate physiotherapy staff, including the ability to feedback on inappropriate referrals to referrer
14. Delegation of tasks identified in the patients management plan including appropriate discharge of patients
15. Lead specialist clinics
16. Planning of all clinics including new patient clinics which meet the demands of AHP waiting times and 18 week RTT directives. This has to be constantly monitored and planned accordingly. This planning is complex since it involves every other aspect of the service and other Health care professionals
17. Responsibility for maintaining appropriate levels of stock and ‘signing off’ pharmacy and procurement orders to authorized level within budget delegation levels
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
18. Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
19. Current HCPC registration
20. Post graduate certificate in relevant clinical area or equivalent experience
21. Completed or working towards management and/ or leadership qualification
22. Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities
23. Minimum 6 years postgraduate experience with minimum 4 years Band 6 NHS experience
24. Previous experience of research/audit
25. Previous experience of service development and change management.
26. Demonstrate evidence based clinical knowledge at advanced level
27. Ability to work on own and as a team member
28. Ability to prioritise, delegate, plan and organise workload effectively
