An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure and industrial transformation project in Port Talbot, Wales.
This role will support the commercial delivery of a large-scale steel production transformation programme, involving the transition to a modern Electric Arc Furnace facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of complex construction and civil engineering packages while ensuring cost efficiency, risk control, and value delivery.
Working closely with engineering, planning, and project delivery teams, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring commercial performance while supporting long-term project success.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial and contractual management of large construction and civil engineering workstreams.
* Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and forecasts.
* Oversee subcontract procurement and contract management from tender stage through to final account.
* Assess and negotiate variations, compensation events, and change orders.
* Support claims preparation, commercial reporting, and project close-out activities.
* Manage commercial risk and contractual compliance across project packages.
* Work closely with engineers, planners, and project delivery teams to align commercial and technical objectives.
* Mentor junior team members and contribute to a high-performing commercial team.

* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience managing commercial aspects of major construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4, FIDIC, or JCT contracts.
* Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
* Ability to manage cost, risk, and contractual matters across complex project environments.
* Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
Desirable
* Chartered status (RICS or CIOB) or working towards professional accreditation.
* Experience working on large industrial or infrastructure projects.
