Job Title: Transfer Station Manager – Waste Management Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 Benefits Location: Outskirts of Chester Overview: An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transfer Station Manager to lead and drive forward operations at a busy waste facility. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in waste or hazardous waste operations, with leadership experience and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation. The Role: You’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day performance of a transfer station, reporting into senior management and managing a small team of operatives. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll be expected to improve operational efficiency, ensure full compliance with industry standards, and foster a positive, safety-first work culture. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team of 5–7 site operatives Ensure full operational compliance with environmental and safety regulations Oversee waste throughput, segregation, and reporting Develop and implement improvements to maximise productivity and cost-efficiency Maintain all required site documentation and ensure operational readiness Support broader site objectives through collaborative leadership and planning What We’re Looking For: Proven experience in waste management, ideally in a transfer station or hazardous waste environment Demonstrated leadership and team management skills Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance standards A forward-thinking, innovative approach to operational challenges Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to add long-term value Industry certifications/qualifications (desirable but not essential) Ideal Candidate Profiles: You may currently be running a similar site and looking for a fresh challenge Or you may be an ambitious operations professional in waste or environmental services, ready to step into a leadership role
