A brilliant specialist school in Durham is searching for a calm, thoughtful Autism Support Worker to join their team and help pupils feel confident, understood, and ready to learn. What you’ll be doing Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism Helping learners navigate routines, transitions, and sensory needs Using clear communication and consistent structures to build trust Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO Supporting pupils to access lessons, social opportunities, and personalised interventions Creating a learning space that feels safe, predictable, and genuinely welcoming Who we’re looking for You don’t need to have worked in a school before, but you’ll thrive here if you: Have experience supporting children or young people with autism or additional needs Stay patient, reassuring, and steady during challenging moments Can tune into sensory or communication barriers and adjust your approach Believe in high expectations delivered with kindness Want a role where relationships matter just as much as routines Why join Protocol Education?
