The Procurement specialist plays a key role in delivering efficient, compliant and value driven procurement services across the North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) and North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT), as part of the North East London Procurement Partnership (NELPP).
Working under the guidance of the Procurement Business Partner, the post holder supports the implementation of the Trusts’ Procurement Strategy, ensuring procurement activities align with organisational goals, deliver best value, and uphold the Trusts’ core values of kindness, respect and community collaboration.
The role is responsible for managing defined categories of expenditure, delivering a portfolio of contracts, and ensuring compliance with procurement standards, Standing Financial Instructions, and relevant legislation. The post holder supports sourcing activities, including competitive tenders, quotations and supplier negotiations, with a focus on achieving measurable cost savings, improved service quality and strong value for money outcomes.
The role involves working within an agile environment, combining office based and remote working, with travel across North East London sites as needed.
Main duties of the job
The Procurement specialist will:
1. Taking responsibility for the procurement of defined Categories of Expenditure by delivering a portfolio of contracts
2. Supporting the Procurement Business Partner as directed (and deputising in their absence), in the management of procurement and operational activities associated with delivery against business objectives and timescales.
3. Providing specific procurement category support and advice to the procurement team and liaising with business leads within the Trust to ensure compliance in the use of agreed standardised products, and that the range of items within catalogues is rationalised to an optimum level.
4. To support the delivery of an efficient and effective procurement and contracting service to meet customer requirements ensuring the best value for all aspects of the Trusts’ business and to promote this service to all users.
5. To support with achieving and maintaining the NHS Procurement & Commercial Standards accreditation by leading on a key area of strategic delivery.
