Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer Assembly Operations
Our client, a key partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is hiring a Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer to enhance Stores and Logistics processes supporting missile system delivery. You will lead initiatives to reduce waste and defects, improve productivity, and lower costs as production scales.
Responsibilities
* Lead and embed CI reviews across operations.
* Drive CI plans and corrective actions.
* Investigate root causes of component issues.
* Reduce defects and rework using 8D and A3 methods.
* Strengthen process controls and capability.
* Facilitate problem-solving in Manufacturing and Logistics.
* Deliver measurable improvements aligned with business goals.
* Apply Lean and change management expertise across teams.
What Do You Need?
* NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21 Engineering Apprenticeship and HNC or equivalent, or BEng in Engineering/Science.
Skills & Experience
* Demonstrates a strong background in manufacturing and warehousing operations, with an understanding of supply chain and goods receiving practices; experience in fast-paced production environments is highly desirable.
* Proficient in MRP and Just-in-Time (JIT) principles, particularly within stores or logistics settings, with a solid grasp of manufacturing, logistical, and engineering processes.
* Skilled in applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies, including the use of quality tools and Minitab software.
* Experienced in leading cross-functional problem-solving initiatives using structured techniques such as 8D and A3, driving root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
* Adept at managing end-to-end improvement projects, from initiation through to implementation and review, using data-driven decision-making and structured reporting.
* Possesses excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across departments and lead change initiatives beyond direct reporting lines.
