Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Lewes, a category B Prison located in Lewes. HMP Lewes is a busy local remand male prison with a capacity of 620 inmates. The role offers free parking on site, staff gym, and is close to the town centre and train station.
Hours
Monday – Friday 0800 – 1600. Weekend working required when necessary.
Salary
Annual salary up to £33,510 per annum.

Main Duties of the Job
* Provide evidence‑based care to a caseload of psychosocial patients, seeking, listening to and acting on their feedback to personalise care.
* Deliver a programme of psychosocial interventions and give information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‑borne viruses and safe sex practices.
* Provide non‑judgmental care on a one‑to‑one basis and through group work, supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks.
* Make a real difference following the HiJ competency framework, policies, procedures and safeguarding considerations.

Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and experience in providing structured psychosocial interventions.
* Experience working within a substance‑misuse multidisciplinary framework including housing, social care, healthcare and mental health pathways.
* Non‑judgmental and compassionate approach.
