This is a replacement post due to previouspostholder moving to another team within the Durham Tees Valley care group.
Durham Tees Valley Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services meet themental and behaviour needs of children and young people up to the age of 18years.
The service is split into:
-Getting Help,
-Getting More Help, LD CAMHS and Neurodevelopmentalassessment teams,
-Specialist services (Eating Disorders and ForensicCAMHS).
The Middlesbrough Childrenand Young Peoples Service is based at The Rosewood centre on the site of AcklamRoad Hospital, which is also the base for many specialist child and adolescentmental health services, alongside a child and adolescent inpatient suite. Thisallows for good working links with colleagues across specialities.
The population of the localauthority area is approx. 136,000, with approximately 25% of them being underthe age of 18.
The post holder will have responsibility for the assessment andmanagement of mental and/or behavioural needs of children and young peoplepresenting with mental disorder and requiring assessment for neurodevelopmentalneeds.
There are opportunities to become a GMC registered trainer .,clinical and / or educational supervisor.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected tooffer mental health assessment, psychiatric opinions, diagnosis and holisticcare plans for patients up to the age of 18, referred to them in hours and whenon call. In Middlesbrough GMH team initial assessments are undertaken bythe wider MDT. Consultants will only see new patients who specifically requirepsychiatric input.
Direct patient contact wouldinclude new patients to service, new psychiatric assessments and reviewappointments. Main conditions would be expected to include ADHD, ASD, AnxietyDisorders, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, Tic Disorders, Psychosis,Self-harm, Conduct Disorder and Sleep disorders.
The Children and Young PeoplesService uses the Care Programme Approach (CPA) and has a relevant all-age Trustpolicy. The majority of young patients are managed on Standard Care, there is aminority who require management using CPA. The post holder would be Care Coordinator for some patients andoperate as Lead Professional or Co-worker for the remainder.
Clinical work would be expectedto be carried out predominantly within the clinical base at the Rosewood Centrein Middlesbrough but may occur within other settings. There willalso be infrequent occasions when young people need to be seen in othersettings such as the acute hospital, police station or a residential placement.
