The Team The Power Station Integration team ensures the coherent, safe and optimised design of the entire SMR plant. Working across disciplines, we embed safety, technical leadership and regulatory alignment into every aspect of the power station design, ensuring fire protection is fully integrated and future‑ready. We are looking for a Fire Protection Manager to lead our fire engineering function and drive the development of fire safety strategies across the Rolls‑Royce SMR power station design. This role shapes technical direction, manages delivery and ensures our fire protection approach is robust, compliant and fully aligned with safety and regulatory expectations. Key Deliverables We’ll need you to: Lead, mentor and develop a team of fire engineers, building capability across the discipline. Manage fire protection delivery, priorities and technical reviews across the full design lifecycle. Drive technical quality, ensuring solutions are robust, integrated and cost‑effective. Collaborate widely across Engineering teams to embed coherent fire safety throughout the plant design. This is a high‑profile leadership role where you’ll bring first‑class communication, safety expertise and technical influence to shape one of the world’s most advanced clean‑energy designs. Essential Skills / Qualifications Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience in fire protection, fire safety or fire systems engineering. Ability to lead, mentor and develop engineers. Strong communication skills with experience influencing multidisciplinary teams. Understanding of fire codes, standards and regulatory expectations. We’ll ask about your experience managing engineering deliverables through full lifecycle stages. Location Hybrid working with regular attendance at our Manchester, Derby or Warrington offices depending on project and team needs. What’s in it for me?
