We are a small independent company base do the outskirts of, Hitchin Hertfordshire and we are now in the market for an experienced candidate to handle our company and accounts and finance function. This role reports directly to the Managing Director (MD) and plays a critical role in providing financial oversight and strategy support. The MD has multiple business entities, and this position ensures the smooth financial management of these entities. Key responsibilities include maintaining financial records, planning cash flow, management accounts, and liaising with external accountants and service providers. The successful candidate will be a commercially minded individual who can oversee the financial health of the businesses while supporting the MD with strategic planning and decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting ??Oversee financial records across all business entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance. ??Manage cash flow, including forecasting and monitoring liquidity needs. ??Approve payroll. ??Prepare and present monthly management accounts, highlighting key insights for the MD. ??Liaise with the external bookkeeper and payroll team to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing. ??Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including tax, VAT, and RMAR returns. Act as the main point of contact for the corporate accountant regarding business finances and tax planning. Finance Strategy & MD Support ??Work closely with the MD to support financial and business strategy and planning across all entities. ??Provide financial analysis and insights to assist with strategic decision-making. ??Maintain accurate financial records to support the MD with investment planning. Update the corporate accountant with financial details of the MD's private investments for tax purposes. Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and improved financial processes. Compliance & Administration ??Ensure that all financial activities comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. ??Assist with preparing reports and documentation required for audits or financial reviews. Key Skills & Experience Required ??Proven experience in finance management, preferably at the management accounts level. ??Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills. ??Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple entities simultaneously. ??Experience working directly with business owners or senior management. ??Knowledge of regulatory compliance, particularly within the finance sector. ??Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-finance professionals. ??Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Sage is a plus).
