This role supports Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe through our Alliance Healthcare business. We are hiring a Category Manager/Lead - Facilities & Utilities to join our international Procurement team.
The Category Lead develops category strategies for regional and local categories, including sourcing strategy, deployment, value engineering, and stakeholder management. They support the implementation of these strategies in Europe to maximize cost savings and procurement value. The Category Lead acts as the expert for strategic procurement in their category, sharing best practices and collaborating closely with local businesses, the wider Cencora organization, and category teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead strategic planning for regional and local categories, ensuring alignment across European businesses.
2. Develop innovative sourcing and contractual arrangements, including value engineering initiatives.
3. Analyze and support category spend baselines, profiles, and risk assessments.
4. Align category strategies with local business financial plans.
5. Support the VP Procurement in defining priority categories for strategic sourcing, aligned with global and country-specific initiatives.
6. Report on the value delivered from sourcing projects.
7. Implement procurement strategies and execute sourcing activities, including supplier analysis and selection.
8. Negotiate with suppliers, supporting fact-based decision-making and stakeholder approvals.
9. Ensure governance processes and operational policies are followed.
10. Organize sessions with internal customers to identify further cost reductions and value engineering opportunities.
11. Support country-specific value engineering projects and track their success against KPIs.
12. Coordinate contract implementation, ensuring compliance and effective communication with in-country managers.
13. Manage supplier relationships, including performance tracking, development activities, and audits.
14. Identify opportunities for contract improvements and renegotiations.
15. Execute large spot buys for unplanned demands, utilizing sourcing expertise.
Minimum Qualifications:
* University or Bachelor’s degree; procurement qualification is a plus.
* 5-10 years of procurement experience, with a focus on Facilities Management and Utilities (Energy, Gas, Water).
* Proven experience in strategic category management, preferably on a pan-European scale.
* Experience managing significant category spend (>£50m annually).
* Proficiency in English is essential.
