Community Registered Nurse

The closing date is 29 October 2025

An exciting opportunity is available within Middlesbrough Early Interventions in Psychosis Team for a Community Registered Mental Health Nurse. This is for a period of 12 months (as Maternity Cover).

Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) is a specialised Mental Health Service focussed on providing timely support to individuals experiencing mainly First Episode of Psychosis. The primary goal is to minimise the duration of untreated psychosis and promote recovery by offering tailored interventions and support to individuals and their families.

We are looking for the right person who has a keen interest in EIP to join our wonderful team. This candidate will adhere to the Trust Values daily, work alongside patients, carers, families, external agencies and colleagues from a variety of disciplines.

You will be a valued member of the team and will develop excellent working relationships with our partners and stakeholders. This innovative approach will provide opportunities for growth in your practice and professional development.

You will be supported in completing the Comprehensive Assessment of At‑Risk Mental States (CAARMS), a semi‑structured assessment tool used to identify individuals at risk of developing psychosis. The age range is from 14‑65 years old.

You can expect regular supervision and support from a very cohesive and supportive leadership team. The service currently operates Monday‑Friday 9‑5pm.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the team you will provide a service to those individuals who present with Mental Health issues, along with other additional needs/risks but with an emphasis on supporting/delivering psychologically informed brief interventions.

You must be willing to work collaboratively with service users of varying ages and differing needs as well as their carers and families.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are required to have the ability and experience to manage complex individuals in partnership with other agencies providing care coordination. In addition you will gain a better knowledge of psychological therapies, psychosocial interventions and care management.

There is an expectation of commitment to the development of high quality care, and to engage in quality improvement activities. You will be supported with regular management, clinical supervision and Caseload Management.

You will receive training to complete CAARMS assessments and attend a Validation Clinic to determine if an appropriate Pathway is required within EIP.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
