Shift: 4 on 4 off - 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off
Pay: circa £52,000

Yolk Recruitment are working with a long-standing and respected site in Somerset who are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of an Electrical Bias Shift Engineer. The site has a strong reputation locally and continues to invest in both its people and equipment.

This is what you'll be doing
As a Shift Engineer you will be responsible for keeping production equipment running efficiently, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance across the factory. Working closely with production teams, you will help minimise downtime while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery and site services
Responding to breakdowns quickly and carrying out effective fault finding to minimise disruption to production
Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults including work on 3-phase systems, motors, control panels, relays, contactors and inverters/VSDs
Supporting basic PLC fault finding and working with automated production equipment
Completing mechanical maintenance tasks including bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, pumps and seals
Recording maintenance work accurately through the site maintenance system
Working collaboratively with production teams to prioritise and resolve engineering issues
Maintaining high standards of health and safety and following site procedures at all times
Supporting improvement projects and contributing ideas to increase plant reliability and performance
What we're looking for
A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent)
Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer or Shift Engineer in a manufacturing environment
Electrical bias with strong fault-finding capability
Experience working on production machinery and automated equipment
Good working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical maintenance
A proactive approach and ability to work effectively within a shift engineering team
