Adferiad Recovery delivers a flexible and coordinated response to the exceptional circumstances faced by people with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions and related issues. Vulnerable people facing complex life challenges need consistent and seamless support to ensure they remain engaged with vital health and wellbeing services – and to prevent them becoming disenfranchised and isolated. ​ Adferiad Recovery harnesses the talents and experience of long-established and leading Welsh charities CAIS, Hafal and WCADA. Our combined expertise in the fields of substance use, mental health, housing, criminal justice, and employment support enables Adferiad Recovery to meet the needs of our most vulnerable with a single, unified, and comprehensive approach. ​ Hours: ​ ​ Bank Work, Flexible & Variable hours ​ Salary: £12.21 basic £1.24 annual leave accruement (April 2025 rate) ​ ​Based at: South Wales: Bridgend, Cardiff Bay, Merthyr, Swansea, Dyfed Powys: Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Llanelli, Brecon, Haverfordwest, Newtown, Gwent: Newport, Ystrad Mynach ​ Role Purpose: The role of an Appropriate Adult is to support, advise and assist a vulnerable person who has been arrested through police interviews, and other formal police procedures in custody. The role is an active one where you will be expected to advise and support the detainee through the processes, ensure the person is treated fairly by the police, ensure the persons rights and entitlements are upheld, and to facilitate communication between the person and the police, ensuring that they understand all of what is happening to them. Full training and shadowing are provided to prepare you for independent work. You’ll gain valuable skills and first-hand experience supporting vulnerable people before you begin paid duties. ​ If you think you might have these skills, but are not 100% sure, please do still apply and let us decide.
