Hours: Bank Work, Flexible & Variable hours Salary: £12.21 basic £1.24 annual leave accruement (April 2025 rate) Based at: South Wales: Bridgend, Cardiff Bay, Merthyr, Swansea, Dyfed Powys: Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Llanelli, Brecon, Haverfordwest, Newtown, Gwent: Newport, Ystrad Mynach Role Purpose: The role of an Appropriate Adult is to support, advise and assist a vulnerable person who has been arrested through police interviews, and other formal police procedures in custody. The role is an active one where you will be expected to advise and support the detainee through the processes, ensure the person is treated fairly by the police, ensure the persons rights and entitlements are upheld, and to facilitate communication between the person and the police, ensuring that they understand all of what is happening to them. Full training and shadowing are provided to prepare you for independent work. You’ll gain valuable skills and first-hand experience supporting vulnerable people before you begin paid duties.
