As the Manufacturing Leader, you will be responsible for the internal logistic and manufacturing areas (excluding Test) for HVDC transformers being built into finished goods within HVDC TPDG Stafford Unit. Includes people and equipment management and budgetary and cost performance reporting. Accountability for ensuring safety, quality, delivery and cost requirements is achieved within the manufacturing and internal logistics areas. Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible team by building effective working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Lead the manufacturing function in line with budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and standards. Job Description Responsibilities: Manage the team utilising best practice applications and establish and maintain company policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading teams. Implement and manage Lean continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes. Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are always maintained. Responsible for production output, financial performance of the manufacturing function, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities. Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers regarding throughput of work in progress stock to ensure production targets are met. Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues, and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity. Set department objectives and KPI’s and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports. Coordinate the daily management process at QR1 and QR2 level for the department and escalate into the senior leadership QR3 process as necessary. Support, comply and ensure conformance with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures. Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors. Ensure adherence to requirements for risk assessments of processes, tasks and activities undertaken in the department. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Identify and deploy business improvement opportunities within the organisation. Undertake continuous training and development of staff within the department. Perform and support root cause analysis for problem resolution. Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements. Support the annual budget process including people resources, equipment and operational expenses and capital expenditure. Produce written reports and make presentations as required at a variety of meeting scenarios including senior leadership visits and monthly management review. Qualifications and Experience Levels: Relevant manufacturing / engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications. Extensive plant level manufacturing experience with significant proven leadership experience. Deep understanding of Lean manufacturing methodology and proven track record of successful deployment. Understanding of manufacturing and procurement / supply chain. Exceptional leadership skills. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making. Commercial and Financial acumen.
