This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building trusted customer relationships, driving successful renewals, and working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver strong commercial outcomes. About the Role As the Account Manager for VMware, you will act as the primary point of contact for VMware end customers on behalf of Dicker Data. You’ll proactively engage customers to manage contract lifecycles, renewals, entitlements, and upcoming milestones, while supporting adoption, retention, and growth. You’ll work closely with internal Business Development Managers, VMware sales and renewals teams, and partner stakeholders to progress opportunities efficiently from identification through to closure, ensuring a seamless end‑to‑end customer experience. Key Responsibilities Proactively engage VMware end customers to discuss contract status, renewal timelines, support coverage, and VMware programs, ensuring customers are informed well ahead of expiry Own the customer success motion for assigned accounts, supporting adoption, renewal readiness, retention, and identification of upsell or cross‑sell opportunities Manage the VMware renewals pipeline, engaging early to improve retention, minimise churn, and maximise renewal and expansion outcomes Support VMware‑led and Dicker Data‑led renewal and customer campaigns, including outreach, follow‑up, qualification, and handover where appropriate Work closely with internal BDMs, VMware account teams, and partner sales teams to progress opportunities and drive deals through to close Coordinate deal execution including deal registrations, special pricing requests, approvals, and renewals in line with VMware programs and governance Prepare and manage accurate customer and partner quotations aligned to VMware pricing, programs, and contractual requirements Track opportunities through the full sales lifecycle, maintaining accurate notes, actions, forecasts, and CRM hygiene Act as a trusted point of contact for customers and partners on VMware contracts, renewals, quoting, and commercial queries Collaborate with VMware, product specialists, operations, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution and high customer satisfaction Maintain strong commercial discipline, including pricing accuracy, margin awareness, and correct application of VMware incentives Provide regular feedback to stakeholders on customer sentiment, renewal risks, campaign performance, and blockers Build and maintain strong working knowledge of VMware solutions, licensing models, and lifecycle concepts Skills And Experiences What you will need to succeed in the role You’re a proactive and organised professional account manager who enjoys working at the intersection of customer success, renewals, and deal execution.
