Overview

6 Month Fixed Term Contract. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to specialise in dysfluency as part of our community service. This post is suitable for a specialist therapist with experience of working with children who present with dysfluency, or as a developing specialist. If you enjoy innovative practice, have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are able to work flexibly with preschool and school age children, we would love to hear from you.

We are a friendly and supportive team committed to providing effective services to children and young people (CYP) in Peterborough. With a strong ethos of CPD, clinical support and supervision, our dynamic team provides evidence-based advice, training and interventions to CYP their families and education staff. We work with CYP aged 0-19 with speech, language and communication needs and feeding difficulties at universal, targeted and specialist levels.

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Responsibilities

1. Manage own time, prioritise workload effectively.
2. Manage caseload within departmental standards.
3. Identify appropriate assessment, intervention and management of children with dysfluency.
4. Plan and deliver training (formal and informal) in consultation with lead therapist to enable parents and other professionals to support children’s and young people’s fluency.
5. Identify appropriate assessment, intervention and management of children with complex speech, language and communication needs, following service specification and pathways.
6. Modify clinical intervention based on outcomes and assessment findings.
7. Apply a range of communication strategies to support the child’s communication needs.
8. Communicate complex condition specific information to carers, teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals.
9. Provide training and support to others regarding the appropriate management and care of children.
10. Initiate the planning and delivery of training for other professionals and/or parents as appropriate.


Qualifications

* Experience in the specialism of dysfluency or as a developing specialist post.
* Ability to work independently with access to more senior colleagues as needed.
* Full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle (driving requirement applies).
* Travel around the county to meet service needs.
