Overview
You will be part of the Dietetics Team within the Hounslow Community Diabetes Service (HCDS) delivering the X-PERT structured education programme to adults referred with type 2 diabetes in the London Borough of Hounslow. This will include teaching in group sessions, face-to-face sessions and via virtual platforms. As a proactive member of the team your primary duties will be to assist in the delivery of X-PERT to patients in group settings, which will require travel to venues across the borough of Hounslow. The role also supports the HCDS in the delivery of training and education to other health care professionals and at public engagement events. You will also provide administrative support for the HCDS team to meet service needs.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the delivery of the X-PERT programme to patients in group settings.
* Deliver X-PERT sessions to patients in group, face-to-face, and via virtual platforms; travel to venues across the borough of Hounslow.
* Support the HCDS in providing training and education to other health care professionals and at public engagement events.
* Provide administrative support for the HCDS team to meet service needs.
* Deliver structured group education programmes in South Asian dialects (Hindi, Urdu or Punjabi) using language skills or interpreter services as required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Interest in health and wellbeing/nutrition.
* Strong teaching skills with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational abilities.
* Ability to use own initiative.
* Part-time role of 18 hours/week; some evenings and weekend shifts may be required.
