Senior Vehicle Technician - Workshop Supervisor
£22.20 per hour, paid weekly - every Friday
Full Time | 4 Days Per Week | 7am-5pm | Temporary On-going Contract

About the Role
As the Senior Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for the smooth delivery of the fleet maintenance service, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are serviced, repaired, and maintained to legislative standards, on time and within budget. You will manage a busy workshop team including; technicians and apprentices, while driving high standards of safety, efficiency, and service quality. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership role within a flexible, multi-vehicle environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the servicing and repair of vehicles, plant, and equipment to required standards.
* Act as Authorised Examiner Delegated Manager, preparing vehicles for MOT/HGV tests.
* Manage and develop a team of technicians and apprentices, overseeing recruitment, training, welfare, and performance.
* Oversee all aspects of municipal fleet maintenance, including planning, quality control, equipment upkeep, and technical training.
* Support broader operational activities, including Health & Safety compliance.
* Contribute accurate data for monitoring, reporting, and budget management.
* Stay up to date with legislation, industry developments, and fleet maintenance best practice.
* Undertake any duties aligned with the role's grade as required.
Qualifications & Training
* Level 3 Motor Vehicle Qualification
* Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject, or a commitment to achieve this within 12 months
* Category C driving licence
* Willingness to complete the Authorised Examiner Delegated Manager Qualification
* Level 4 management qualification - Desirable
* IOSH Managing Safely Certificate - Desirable
Experience & Knowledge
* Significant experience managing people and resources in a multi-vehicle fleet maintenance environment
* Strong background in fleet maintenance planning and contingency management
* Customer-focused mindset, with experience managing service expectations
* Experience of quality procedures, financial management, and relevant policies
* Ability to lead through change, motivate teams, and maintain high standards
* Knowledge of legislation, operator licensing, and current health & safety practices
* Successful applicant will be required to pass a basic DBS check
