Depot Manager – Wernick Hire

About the Role
* Lead Depot Operations – Oversee day‑to‑day depot activities ensuring seamless performance.
* Health & Safety Champion – Uphold rigorous standards to protect staff and operations.
* Financial Steward – Manage depot P&L, cost control and profitability.
* Sales & Business Development – Source new enquiries, provide accurate costing and conduct site surveys.
* Team Development – Mentor staff, deliver training and maintain a high‑performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote Wernick Hire and grow the business through new enquiries.
* Respond promptly to all enquiries ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Provide precise and profitable costing for all enquiries.
* Conduct thorough site surveys and produce accurate sketch drawings.
* Coordinate and manage hire contracts from order receipt to handover.
* Monitor work in progress to ensure timely completion of orders.
* Enhance staff skills through training and mentorship.
* Maintain strict Health & Safety compliance.
* Take overall responsibility for depot P&L and cost management.
* Oversee yard and office staff, handle basic HR functions.
* Understand each job function within the depot.
* Use MCS RM/CRM system and QMS effectively.
* Manage asset recording and asset management.
* Attend IOSH course and participate in leadership and sales training.
* Remain composed under pressure, plan workload and delegate tasks.
* Communicate at all levels and own issues, providing solutions.
* Ensure depot KPIs are met or exceeded and service agreements are upheld.
Required Criteria
* Depot manager and sales experience in portable accommodation, modular buildings or plant hire.
* Excellent leadership, communication and HR management skills.
* Health & Safety awareness, implementation and financial acumen.
* Strong project management, asset management and training delivery.
* Calm under pressure, workload management and problem‑solving abilities.
* Experience with MCS RM/CRM and QMS systems.
