Special School Support Assistant – Brighton
Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate and dedicated Special School Support Assistants to join our client specialist SEN school in Brighton this September.
This nurturing school caters to primary-aged children with autism, speech and language needs, and broader communication challenges. As a support assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping students flourish through personalised attention-whether in small groups or one-on-one sessions-using tools like Makaton, PECS, and visual resources to support their learning and confidence.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Supporting children’s development through tailored learning activities
2. Encouraging social skills, independence, and confidence in a warm, inclusive environment
3. Helping establish calm, structured routines to enhance focus and well-being
4. Working closely with teachers to co-deliver creative, engaging lessons for SEN pupils
5. Monitoring progress and contributing to assessments to support each child’s journey
6. Providing additional assistance to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and valued
7. Supporting personal care routines with dignity and sensitivity
8. Promoting safeguarding and confidentiality at all times
About You:
We’d love to hear from you if you:
9. Have experience supporting SEN pupils in a school setting (primary preferred)
10. Are committed to child welfare, with a proactive safeguarding approach
11. Bring patience, enthusiasm, and a warm sense of humour to your work
12. Understand SEN needs, child development, and communication tools like Makaton or PECS
13. Are a team player with strong communication skills
14. Hold good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills

18. Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM – 15:30 PM (part-time considered)
19. Pay: From £ per hour
