Discover a career where development is everything.

GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency with a mission to keep the UK safe. We use cutting-edge technology, ingenuity, and partnerships to identify, analyze, and disrupt threats. Working with our intelligence partners MI5 and MI6, we protect the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks, and espionage. At GCHQ, you'll do varied and fascinating work in a supportive and inclusive environment emphasizing teamwork.

We rely on our IT teams to keep our infrastructure safe, secure, and mission-ready. We are looking for people passionate about technology to join us. With support and encouragement, you'll undertake an 18-month learning journey designed to equip you with the skills and experience for a career at GCHQ.

Enjoy a mix of classroom, virtual, and on-the-job learning, gaining exposure to areas like Automation, Cloud, Applications, Data Transfer, Access Management, and Cyber Security. You'll identify innovative approaches, collaborate on challenges, and work alongside a cohort equally enthusiastic about tech, using unique technology for a mission that’s entirely distinctive.

After training, you'll join a team of experts supporting GCHQ and its partners. Your work will involve projects to keep our IT infrastructure effective in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.

Qualifications include a GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths (or equivalent). Your interest in technology, eagerness to learn, and awareness of industry developments are essential. We welcome school leavers, STEM graduates, career changers, and those returning to work. You should be eager to expand your skills and bring fresh ideas to a valued environment.

With a comprehensive induction, you'll be welcomed into an inclusive workplace with opportunities to explore interests and access funded resources, including potential industry-recognized qualifications such as ISC² CISSP, AWS Solution Architect, or Cisco CCNA.

A Trainee Scheme Lead will guide you through the 18-month learning pathway, with mentors supporting your professional and personal growth. Benefits include 25 days' annual leave, interest-free season ticket loans, paid parental and adoption leave, onsite facilities (gym, restaurant), and participation in sports, social, and affinity networks promoting diversity and inclusion. From day one, you'll be empowered to build a passionate career and make a national impact.
