Contracts Manager – Specialist Construction Projects

Are you an experienced Contracts Manager with a passion for delivering high-quality construction projects? We are seeking a proactive and organised professional to join a busy team managing a diverse portfolio of refurbishment and construction works across the region. With decades of combined industry experience, the business has built a strong reputation for managing technically demanding projects in live environments, where safety, quality and programme certainty are critical. The company delivers a wide range of schemes, including new-build facilities, refurbishments, upgrades and associated infrastructure works. Project values typically range from smaller refurbishment packages to multi-million-pound developments, undertaken for a mix of national operators, developers and private clients.
A hands-on, solutions-focused approach allows projects to be managed from early design and tender stages through to completion. Emphasis is placed on collaborative working, clear communication and meticulous planning to minimise disruption and ensure consistent delivery against programme and budget. The team combines strong technical knowledge with practical site experience, enabling reliable outcomes across a varied and demanding project portfolio.
Role Overview:
As Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of projects from early tender stage through to successful completion. You’ll play a key role in ensuring programmes run smoothly, on time and within budget, while maintaining exceptional standards of client care and operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead contract management with involvement in tender preparation and bid submissions through mobilisation to delivery and client handover.
Establish strong, professional relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
Prepare comprehensive method statements, risk assessments, and construction programmes.
Attend and contribute to site meetings, client meetings, and internal progress reviews.
Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to quality, health, safety and environmental standards.
Proactively manage variations, costs and risks to protect margin and deliver planned outcomes.
Work collaboratively with commercial and site teams to resolve issues and drive project success.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project status, forecasts and commercial performance.
Project Details:
Projects are varied in scope, typically ranging in value between £250k and £4m, involving upgrades, construction and related infrastructure works.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a Contracts or Project Management role within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial controls.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to produce clear method statements and programme documentation.
A proactive and organised approach to managing workload and project priorities.
CSCS / relevant site safety qualifications and full UK driving licence preferred.
