As a Placement Trainee Planner, you will gain hands-on experience in a critical function that shapes how complex construction projects are delivered. You’ll develop technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while working alongside experienced professionals on real projects.

No prior experience in planning software is required — we will provide full support and training.

5. Support the Planning team in the analysis of tender information and preparation of tender programmes
6. Support the Planning team in the preparation of master programmes
7. Analyse and support the Planning team in labour resource and plant
8. Support the Planning team in assessing / evaluate construction methods and techniques
9. Support the Planning team in the preparation of prelims
10. Support the Planning team in preparation procurement and information schedules
11. Support the Planning team in assessing project progress positions including monitoring of specific sub-contract packages
12. Support Planning Team in Client Meetings
13. Support Planning Team in Collaborative Sub Contractor Workshops
14. Support the Planning team in production of graphical presentations using CAD etc.
15. Support and co-ordinate the distribution of programmes
16. Support the smooth running of planning department
17. Support the Planning team in assessing project progress positions and maintains production control records.
This role is designed to provide a broad exposure to construction planning. Specific responsibilities and objectives will be agreed throughout your placement.

Technical Competencies
Essential
18. Currently studying a degree-level course in a construction-related discipline.
19. Strong interest in technology, engineering and the built environment.
20. Strong IT skills and confidence working with common Microsoft packages.
21. Logical thinking and problem-solving ability.
22. Good attention to detail and accuracy.
23. Interest in technology, design, or strategy (e.g. ICT, CAD).
24. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
25. Ability to manage time, stay organised, and meet deadlines.
26. Willingness to learn and apply new tools and techniques.
Desirable
27. Experience in a construction related environment
28. Interest in how construction, engineering, or design processes come together.
29. Basic knowledge of project management concepts (e.g. timelines, milestones).
30. Ability to read drawings and visual information
31. Understanding of 3D modelling, design software, or gaming engines (helpful but not essential).
32. Creative thinking and ability to visualise how projects fit together

INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENTS
This industrial placement is intended to last 9 – 12 months, dependent on your college/university curriculum. On your placement you will be given the support, guidance and experience which will lay the foundations for a great future in a Construction career.
