Do you aspire to make patient’s cancer care experience a better one? Do you have experience in Haematology or Oncology? We can now offer band 6 position(s) within the Haematology Team at Queens Hospital Burton. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within the specialist team and learn more about Myeloma, Lymphoma and Non Malignant Blood Disorders.
Responsibilities
* Work within the CNS team to deliver expert and quality care to patients from the point of diagnosis, supporting patients and their families through their treatment or management pathways.
* Provide nurse-led clinics in addition to supporting the consultant-led clinic service, acting as the first port of call for queries and concerns from patients and relatives.
* Continually strive to improve existing services and develop new ways of meeting patients’ needs.
* Deliver nursing care in a defined specialist area with the specialist knowledge required to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate holistic, individualised, patient-centred care in a safe and caring environment.
* Act as the patient’s advocate, maintaining privacy and dignity, and provide support, advice and education to patients/significant others and colleagues under supervision.
* Support, counsel, problem-solve and provide emotional support to patients from diagnosis onwards; escalate management to band 7 colleagues when required and work with a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience in Haematology or Oncology preferred.
* The right candidate will deliver nursing care in a specialist area with ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, while acting as advocate for the patient and ensuring privacy and dignity.
* Ability to provide information, counselling and support to patients and relatives and work within a multidisciplinary team.
