About The Role
We are working on an exciting 8 km new build highway scheme in Lincolnshire, involving road construction, drainage, structures and associated works. As part of our Regional Civils division you will support the commercial side of the project and work closely with the team and client. The scheme includes two new connections to the A46 and A15, three new junctions, and five major structures, including a 100 m span bridge across the River Witham.
What you'll be doing
* Adhere to the company’s governance requirements (BMS & GMCEs)
* Use the company’s ERP and Digital Systems
* Obtain and systematically check data
* Measure, record & value work unsupervised in line with rules and procedures
* Prepare cost reconciliation statements
* Interpret works information, specifications & drawings and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates
* Build up estimates from first principles, including net and gross estimates
* Measure work and negotiate agreements with subcontractors
* Review weekly, monthly and sectional programme of works
* Plan commercial activities to meet programme requirements
* Collate cost and value information
* Understand the customer contract and manage stakeholder relationships
* Appreciate delay and disruption programme requirements
* Specify procurement requirements and collect necessary information
* Document information and register interests
* Understand documentation steps and requirements
* Manage and adjudicate subcontract enquiries
Who we're looking for
Typically, a QS will be chartered or in the final stages of achieving professional membership of the RICS, CICES or CIOB and will act as a peer role model for less experienced commercial team members. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is expected.
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
* CSCS Card (Academically Qualified/Professional Qualified Person)
* Membership or working towards MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB
