Purpose of the position
We have an opportunity available for a Technical Trainer (Avionic) to join a dynamic and resourceful team, that pride themselves on creating delivering and assessing gold standard technical training within the individual’s approval and skill set to meet MRO, customer & wider business requirements.
The audience shall range from young adults to time served engineers on multiple learning routes (apprenticeships, part time education and short courses).
Responsibilities
* Owning the success of training delivered.
* Adapting training where practicable, to meet the needs of individual learners using a range of learning resources.
* Supporting the team to develop new products, services, or capabilities to meet MRO & customer demands.
* Operating in full compliance with regulatory bodies.
* Reporting any Safeguarding, Preventing or Wellbeing concerns to the designated organisational lead.
* Ensuring the learning environment is safe and free from potential harm.
Tasks
* Creating Training Needs Analysis & utilise a range of technical and soft resources to deliver its outcomes.
* Maintaining own Continuous Professional Development records.
* Writing of Training Needs Analysis, lesson plans, learning notes, presentations, and examinations to meet the needs of the customer, regulator or awarding body.
* Marking of examinations (mid-point or final) or course work, providing thorough feedback to encourage learner.
* Continually seeking opportunities to improve learning quality/safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of delivery (Time & Cost).
* Other duties reasonably required by the organisation, within the individual skill set.
Skills and Knowledge
* Delivering engineering hand skills training ensuring safety is never compromised – including training of detail fitting, sheet metal work and tooling/equipment operation.
* Delivering engineering theoretical training ensuring safety is never compromised – including training of aircraft systems in both Part66 B1 and B2 trade groups, in a classroom and practical workshop environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience
* Experience in a Maintenance Repair Organisation, performing A-D checks. Line maintenance experience will also be considered.
* Creation & delivery of a range training materials for traditional delivery and effective self guided learning.
* Competence assessment experience.
* Learning support for apprentices.

* Prioritises safety, able to identify and mitigate hazards pro‑actively and reduce to As Low As Reasonably Practicable. Technical Competencies: Applied or technical knowledge and skills needed for effective performance in the role. i.e commercial acumen, computer skills etc.
* Confident with Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of eLearning platforms
* Able to deliver with relatable industry context, the UK CAA Category A Syllabus (Essential, all modules) and Category B1 Syllabus (Desirable, all or individual modules) or the City Guilds equivalent Level 3 or 4 respectively, meeting the requirements of UK CAA CAP1814
* Skills – Able to create, interpret and instruct on use of technical engineering drawings to meet learning outcomes.
* Knowledge – Able to create, interpret and instruct on aircraft systems schematics and technical data to meet learning outcomes within both Part66 Category B1 and B2 trade groups.
* Knowledge – Able to support basic hand skills delivery within both Part66 B1 and B2 trade groups, including basic structures, systems and electrical (not necessarily expected to lead delivery – for absence cover or support during peaks).
Education
Essential
* L3 apprenticeship in aviation maintenance or combination of higher education and hands on maintenance experience.
* Mandatory regulatory training (HF, FTS, EWIS)
Desirable
* Level 3 Assessor Qualification (TAQA) (Training can be provided)
* Level 3 Teaching Qualification (Training can be provided)
* Part66 Category A modules OR Part66 Category B modules
* C-130J & C-130H Type Course Certificate (Training can be provided)
* IOSH Working Safely (Training can be provided)
Additional local needs
* Possible occasional domestic and international travel to meet business requirements.
