Birmingham Children’s Trust deliver a high -quality Education intervention service using a trauma informed approach. This approach ensures children have improved academic and vocational achievements and reduces their risk of school exclusion. Engagement in Education also has a positive impact on desistance from offending. The Education intervention service, working in partnership with the YJS Case Manager and external agencies, provides support and guidance to increase engagement and sustain educational provision to statutory school aged children who are under the supervision of the Youth Offending Service. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the ability to offer intensive and bespoke support based on their own knowledge and experience to ensure that any issues or barriers a child may face to engaging in their education journey can be overcome. The worker will need to establish a positive supportive relationship with the child and will develop a range of techniques and strategies to enable re-engagement with their Education. A desired candidate will demonstrate experience of working in a setting relevant to youth justice or children and families. They will hold in depth knowledge of the UK education system and have previous experience of supporting children into/within an education setting. The candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. They will demonstrate an understanding and the ability to respond to safeguarding concerns.
