Team and Projects
We have a Graduate Engineer opportunity within our Civils Practice, part of the Highways Business, bringing together expertise across civil engineering, drainage, and pavements. Amey Consulting has been appointed by National Highways as a Design Partner to support the £3.6bn Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) for design and construction services across the Strategic Road Network. We also work with government departments and local authorities across the UK on major highways and infrastructure projects.

We maintain a strong track record of sustainable designs and offer varied workload for clients such as National Highways, Transport Scotland, South Wales Trunk Road Agent, and others.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Graduate Civil Engineer within our Highways Practice, you will support a team of engineers to deliver a portfolio of schemes for clients. You will work alongside the team to:
* Develop innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities
* Prepare or contribute to technical reports, proposals, and client presentations
* Undertake numerical analysis to determine structural load carrying capacity
* Propose strengthening and maintenance options
* Deliver robust structural assessments to enable safe and optimal management of asset structures
* Support delivery of engineering projects for national and local highways
* Contribute to asset management strategies and lifecycle planning
* Use industry-standard software to model and analyse performance
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, environmental, transport engineers)
* Support drainage engineering projects for highways clients
* Model and analyse hydraulic performance of drainage systems (Causeway FLOW)

Qualifications
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate clear communication, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and proactive, with professionalism and integrity. To be considered:
* Civil/Structural Engineering Degree at 2:1 or above
* Full UK driving license
* Keen interest in highways infrastructure design
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
* Proactive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges
