Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary SEMH PRU (Salford)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist Secondary SEMH Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Salford area.
This setting supports young people with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, such as Anxiety and school refusal, challenging behaviour, Emotional dysregulation, Trauma related behaviours and Low self-esteem and attachment needs.

⭐ Key Responsibilities
As an HLTA in this PRU, you will:
* Deliver small‑group and 1:1 learning interventions across KS3 and KS4
* Cover lessons in the absence of a teacher
* Support behaviour regulation using de‑escalation and relationship‑based approaches
* Assist in creating personalised learning plans
* Work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team, and external agencies
* Promote positive routines, engagement, and resilience in learners
* Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing environment

⭐ Requirements
To be successful in this position, you must have:
* HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience
* Previous experience supporting students with SEMH needs (PRU, alternative provision, SEN school, or mainstream SEMH experience welcomed)
* Confidence managing behaviour using restorative and trauma‑informed approaches
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A child‑only Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Full-time availability Monday–Friday during term time
