Eastleigh Swim Club based in Hampshire is seeking a part-time Swim School Manager to lead and grow our Learn-To- Swim programme. This is a key role for an enthusiastic professional who can ensure high-quality lesson delivery and a safe, positive learning environment for young swimmers.
Eastleigh Swim Club is a well-established, SwimMark-accredited club based in Eastleigh with additional sessions in Southampton, offering a friendly atmosphere for swimmers of all ages. Our integrated programme spans from a thriving Swim School up to competitive squads, and we have a proud record of developing swimmers to county and national levels.
Role Overview
In this role, you will oversee all aspects of our Learn-to-Swim program, ensuringthat lessons are delivered to a high standard and that our swimmers and their parents receive excellent support.
You will work closely with the Club’s committee and Head Coach to align the Swim School with the Club’s development pathway. Hours are part-time and will include evenings and weekends to coincide with lesson times (exact schedule to be agreed).
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee Lesson Delivery: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Swim School, ensuring all lessons are conducted safely, effectively, and in line with Swim England standards. Conduct regular lesson observations and quality checks to maintain excellent teaching practices.
* Manage and Support Teachers: Lead a small team of swimming teachers, scheduling their classes and duties. Provide mentorship, guidance, and organise training opportunities for teachers to continuously improve their skills. Ensure a consistent teaching approach across all classes and cover lessons when necessary.
* Liaise with Parents: Act as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians regarding the Learn-to-Swim program. Handle enquiries, provide feedback on swimmers’ progress, and address any concerns promptly and professionally. Foster a welcoming, customer-focused atmosphere so that families feel valued and informed.
* Programme Development: Work on expanding and improving the Swim School. Drive initiatives to grow enrollment and boost swimmer retention – for example, managing trial sessions, progressing swimmers through levels, and coordinating with the Club’s coaches to transition graduates into the competitive squads. Monitor attendance and achievement records, and use this data to identify areas for development.
* Administration and Safety: Ensure all administrative tasks (class schedules, registers, fee collection tracking) are handled efficiently. Uphold the Club’s health and safety policies at all times – this includes making sure pool safety standards are met during lessons and that teaching equipment is maintained. You will also enforce safeguarding procedures to provide a safe environment for every child.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Swim England Level 2 Teaching Qualification (or equivalent) – essential. You must be a fully qualified swimming teacher with a strong grasp of the Swim England Learn to Swim framework.
* Experience in Swim Instruction: Significant experience teaching swimming lessons to children. A track record of delivering fun, effective lessons and of following safety guidelines in an aquatic setting.
* Leadership/Management Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory or management role is highly preferred. This could be as a lead teacher, deck manager, or swim school coordinator. You should be comfortable leading a team, organising workloads, and providing constructive feedback to staff.
* Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills with both children and adults. Ability to liaise confidently with parents and to collaborate with club coaches/committee. A strong customer service ethos is a must.
* Organisational Skills: Well-organised and reliable in managing schedules and administrative duties. Competence with basic IT (email, spreadsheets/booking systems) is expected.
* Passion and Commitment: A genuine passion for swimming and enthusiasm for helping young swimmers progress. We are looking for someone positive, patient, and supportive who will uphold the club’s friendly and inclusive values.
(Additional qualifications such as an RLSS lifeguard certificate, NRASTC, or Swim England Level 3 Swim Coordinatorwould be an advantage, but are not required. All candidates must undergo an enhanced DBS check in line with our child safeguarding policy.)
We look forward to welcoming a new Swim School Manager to our team and continuing to provide a fun, safe, and rewarding swimming experience for our learners.
If you meet the above criteria and are excited to contribute to the growth of our Swim School, we would love to hear from you.
Join us and help shape the future of our club’s young swimmers!
