37.5 Hours per week (Full-Time Equivalent)
Onsite – 5 Days Per Week
Salary: £30,000+ depending on experience
Start Date: June/July 2026

As part of your onboarding we will support you in completing the Edward Jenner Programme. After successful completion of your probation the practice will support you in the completion of The Mary Seacole Programme. The Mary Seacole Programme will support the achievement of a CMI Level 5 qualification and provide a strong foundation for future leadership progression within the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Practice Manager, with a structured development pathway and the opportunity to progress into a senior leadership role within the next 5 years. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the operational and strategic management of a forward-thinking General Practice, with a strong focus on delivering high quality, patient-centred, holistic care and continuity of care in line with the General Medical Services (GMS) contract and wider NHS priorities.
You will work alongside an established partnership, and experienced Practice Manager, and a multidisciplinary team of over 30 staff members including GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Phyisotherapists, HCAs, Registrars, Receptionists, Administrators, and other allied healthcare professionals. The practice is actively involved in community-based collaborative work through Dashwood PCN, Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT), DEN Steering groups and wider system partnership’s, supporting proactive, preventative, and integrate models of care for the local population.
The successful candidate will be supported to develop a strong understanding of NHS frameworks and healthcare transformation initiatives, including the NHS 10-year Health Plan, the Neighbourhood Health Framework, population health management, access improvement, quality improvement, and the evolving operational and contractual aspects of General Practice.

Job Summary
The post-holder is an operations Manager.
To support the Practice Manager in all aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, optimising efficiency and overall performance, ensuring the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.
As this role will have access to a higher level of confidential data in the course of their employment, there is an expectation that the post holder will always maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity. Sensitive information could be from either internal sources, or from external partner organisations.
To manage and coordinate all aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, patient services, premises and health and safety management.
Through innovative ways of working, support the Practice Manager leading the team in promoting ED&I, SHEF, quality and continuous improvement, confidentiality, collaborative working, service delivery, and learning and development, and ensuring the practice complies with CQC regulations.
The post-holder will be an integral part of the general practice team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
The following are the core responsibilities of the Operations Manager in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Lead in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities using the Practice Manager for support when needed.
b. Provide leadership and guidance to all clerical staff, ensuring that they adhere to policy and procedure at all times
c. Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality due to the nature of the role and with being exposed to a greater level of confidential material and data
d. Oversee the administrative elements of QOF, liaising with GPs, nursing staff and administrators
e. Implement systems to ensure compliance with CQC regulations and standards
f. Review and regularly update job descriptions and person specifications, ensuring all staff are legally and gainfully employed
g. Act as the lead for recruitment, including pre-employment checks and DBS
h. Evaluate, organise and oversee the staff induction programme
i. Implement and embed an effective staff appraisal process, and undertake appraisals for those that they line manage
j. Implement and embed an effective practice and staff development plan for all staff (clinical and administrative) whilst maintaining a robust training record
k. Implement effective systems for the resolution of disciplinary and grievance issues, maintaining an overview of staff welfare
l. Lead the management of the clinical system, ensuring IT security and IG compliance at all times and responding to and resolving all local IT issues
m. Actively encourage and promote the use of patient online services
n. Update and act as the focal point for the practice website and social media sites
o. Review and update clinical templates, ensuring they relate to current practice
p. Market the practice appropriately to ensure patient population is stable or increasing
q. Ensure the staff implement the practice-wide approach to the management of all patient services matters
r. Manage DNAs, providing data and planning tools coupled with liaison with referred repeat offenders
s. Identify and deliver team training where required
t. Support the management team in the compilation of practice reports and the practice development plan
u. Support the PM in coordinating and managing the patient complaints process and ensure that staff are fully conversant with the complaint’s procedure
v. Be an integral part of the general practice team
w. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children
x. Support in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements
y. Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
z. Act as a leader in support of the spectrum of clinical governance
aa. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
bb. Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed
