Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant - Intensive Outreach Service for Eating Disorders
Join our multidisciplinary team at The Redwoods Centre, Shrewsbury, as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the newly developed Intensive Outreach Service for Eating Disorders. This role involves delivering intensive outreach interventions, including supported eating, shopping, meal preparation, and psychoeducation, primarily in patients' homes and community settings.
You will work under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and Operational Manager, engaging patients in therapeutic activities and contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment programmes. A valid driving license is essential, as travel between sites and client locations is required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement and adapt patient-centred programmes encompassing self-help, supported eating, communication, independent living, and psychoeducation, collaborating closely with qualified nurse therapists.
2. Support patients in practicing skills and regaining confidence within the community, working alongside the multidisciplinary team and ensuring safety through competency assessments and risk evaluations.
3. Assist in ordering materials and stocks to meet programme needs and support therapeutic activities.
4. Develop professional relationships with patients, carers, and advocates to support consistent care and treatment adherence.
5. Participate in relevant meetings, reviews, and multidisciplinary team activities, maintaining effective communication channels.
6. Engage in supervision sessions to uphold clinical best practices, including caseload management and reflective practice.
7. Develop relevant skills such as manual handling, equipment management, and driving.
8. Handle challenging behaviours and adverse environmental conditions professionally and safely.
