Job Overview

Bartlett Contractors Ltd are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in our supply chain and procurement operations, ensuring the timely availability of materials, equipment, plant, and tool hire needed to meet project and production demands. You will be responsible for supplier negotiations, inventory management, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery performance.
* Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions.
* Manage the procurement and coordination of plant and tool hire, ensuring the right equipment is available when needed and returned efficiently after use.
* Monitor inventory and hire levels, placing orders and scheduling returns to maintain optimal stock and resource availability.
* Collaborate with internal teams (production, logistics, and site management) to forecast demand and align procurement and hire plans.
* Track and assess supplier and hire company performance, addressing any quality, delivery, or service issues.
* Stay informed on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging supplier or hire opportunities.
* Maintain accurate procurement and hire records, including purchase orders, hire agreements, supplier details, and pricing data.

Qualifications & Experience

* Proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or in a similar purchasing role.
* Experience managing procurement arrangements within a construction, engineering, or industrial environment.
* Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement principles.
* Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and achieve favorable outcomes with suppliers and hire companies.
* Familiarity with logistics and site operations.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
