Head of Cloud – Contract (Outside IR35)
Location: Hybrid (East Midlands/London 1-2 days/week onsite)
Rate: Up to £700/day

About the Role
We’re hiring a Head of Cloud to lead a strategic transformation across a business with limited cloud maturity but a strong appetite for change. This is a contract opportunity for someone who thrives in greenfield environments and can embed DevOps, FinOps, and CloudOps practices from the ground up.
You’ll be the go-to expert for cloud strategy, governance, and enablement, working across technical and non-technical teams to drive rapid adoption, educate stakeholders, and deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Define and deliver a cloud operating model that integrates DevOps, FinOps, and CloudOps.
Lead the design and implementation of cloud architecture across Azure and AWS.
Establish governance frameworks, tooling, and processes for automation, cost control, and reliability.
Educate and influence senior stakeholders and technical teams on cloud best practices.
Drive cultural and technical transformation across engineering, infrastructure, and finance.
Provide hands-on leadership across CI/CD, IaC, cloud security, and observability.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience leading cloud transformation in immature or scaling environments.
Deep expertise in Azure and AWS platforms.
Strong understanding of DevOps, FinOps, and CloudOps principles and tooling.
Ability to influence and educate across business and technical functions.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Terraform, Bicep, cloud governance, and cost optimisation.
Comfortable operating in a fractional or full-time contract capacity.
