Job Overview
NHS Forth Valley has exciting opportunities for motivated and forward-thinking pharmacists who want to develop their clinical skills working within GP practices. You will help deliver high quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients get the best possible outcome from their medicines, avoiding harm and waste.
Team and Services
You will join a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers delivering a much appreciated and well-respected Pharmacotherapy Service.
Key Responsibilities and Integration
You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to work with a range of clinical and nonclinical personnel and patients. Integration is a key aim of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, and you will liaise closely with hospital and community pharmacy colleagues and care homes to ensure seamless pharmaceutical care.
Qualifications, Training and Professional Development
Whilst experience of primary care would be desirable, prospective candidates currently working in other sectors are encouraged to apply as full training will be provided. Pharmacists who are newly qualified and currently working in Scotland would be expected to be already undertaking the NES Post-Registration Foundation Programme for Pharmacists and be ready to apply for an Independent Prescribing Course. More experienced pharmacists will be expected to engage in the RPS Core Advanced framework demonstrating competence across the five domains of practice, in addition to supporting colleagues with their learning and development. Being an Independent Prescriber is desirable.
Schedule and Travel
Availability on Mondays and/or Fridays is desirable due to current service needs, though not essential.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

Working Hours
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
