Technical Sourcing Specialist
A world-renowned materials development business based in Huntingdon is currently recruiting a Technical Sourcing Specialist to join its customer support team on a permanent basis. You will be working closely with the sales and operations team and will be responsible for the pricing of customer enquiries to maximise conversion to orders.

The Role
The Technical Sourcing Specialist works closely with our Sales and Operations teams and is responsible for the pricing of customer enquiries to maximize our conversion-to-order rates. The Technical Sourcing Specialist will manage and control the purchasing process and supply of parts for designated materials and commodities within their responsibility.
Key tasks for this varied role include assessing customer requests, costing their requirements to secure the business whilst respecting company profit margins, generating quotations and purchasing materials from suppliers.
* Ensure customer enquiries are actioned in a timely manner and within SLA.
* Maximise the conversion rate from enquiry, to quote, to order.
* Understand the capability of our suppliers; build and maintain good relationships.
* Develop suppliers to improve quotation accuracy and speed of response.
* Update Sales and Operations team members on the progress of ongoing enquiries, estimated delivery dates and costing decisions.
* Place ‘Back to Back’ Purchase Orders as required on the receipt of Sales Order.
* Progress open purchase orders to ensure that delivery dates are met. Actively respond to quality issues and discrepancies.
* Keep abreast of market trends for materials. Benchmark existing suppliers in a bid to maximise our purchasing potential.
* Ensure specifications are in accordance with customer requirements and maintained accurately in relevant business systems.
* Check Acknowledgements and update the system accordingly.
* Progress open orders to ensure that delivery dates are met. Actively respond to quality issues and discrepancies.
Experience Required
* Degree level, or equivalent, in a chemistry or materials discipline.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Accuracy and high attention to detail.
* Passion for providing service excellence and drive to achieve results.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Flexibility and a positive attitude towards opportunity.
* A mindset that puts the customer at the center of everything we do.
* A technical knowledge gained from similar engineering / chemical / material supply business is an advantage.
* Additional languages would be an advantage.
