Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – 4 on 4 off Days
Knoxbridge, Kent | 4 on 4 off (Days – 12-hour shifts) | £45k - £55k
Role Overview
We are seeking a mechanically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy food packing site on a 4 on 4 off day shift pattern. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of site operations by delivering effective planned and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and assisting with operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct PPM and routine inspections to keep plant equipment running efficiently.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on a range of industrial equipment (e.g. pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves).
* Respond to breakdowns and carry out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
* Fit and replace mechanical parts, including shafts, seals, bearings, and pipework.
* Support equipment dismantling and reassembly during cleaning cycles.
* Follow LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures to ensure safe working conditions.
* Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
* Supervise and liaise with contractors as required.
Person Specification – Essential
* Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
* Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
* Hands-on experience with pneumatics, air systems, valves, and mechanical assemblies.
* Strong fault-finding, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Able to work independently with a proactive, team-focused attitude.
* Comfortable with manual handling and working in production environments.
Desirable
* Basic electrical knowledge and multi-skilling are advantageous.
* Experience with automation systems.
* Involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
