The Opportunity
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry-leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
We are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor (OHA), mainly based at our Castle Donington (East Midlands) medical center.
What You’ll Do
As an OHA, you will be responsible for delivering a full range of Occupational Health duties, including case management, medicals such as Rail industry medicals, Safety Critical medicals, Health Surveillance, Train Drivers medicals, HAVS (an advantage), and Health and Wellbeing services.
Specific responsibilities include:
* Supporting managers and employees regarding sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessment, stress management, and return to work.
* Working independently at medical centers or sites, conducting health surveillance and assessments (training provided).
* Advising managers and HR on staff capable of undertaking duties and related policies.
* Assisting in risk assessments related to health matters.
* Staying updated with legislation and best practices in Occupational Health.
* Collaborating with head office to increase service utilization and performing dashboard work as needed.
* Participating in network learning opportunities and clinical updates.
Required Qualifications
* Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health, registered with NMC Part 3, with ongoing professional development.
* Qualification in Hand Arm Vibration and experience with drug and alcohol testing protocols is desirable.
* Ability to conduct medical assessments including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessments, HAVS, and safety-critical medicals.
* Rail industry experience for Train Driver Medicals, with training provided.
* Capability to perform case management assessments both face-to-face and remotely.
* Effective collaboration with HR, Safety, and Occupational Health partners.
* Ability to identify key health issues and develop procedures and solutions.
* Willingness to travel between sites with valid business insurance.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
