Clinical Lecturer in Primary Dental Care
This is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental Schoolin our brand-new clinical facility. The role holder will play a key role withinthe School, contributing towards teaching on our clinical programmes.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking outstanding individuals who have significantexperience in general practice to help Bristol Dental School prepare ourstudents for life in practice. As well as contributing to teaching and clinicalsupervision, the post holder may contribute to patient assessment and emergencyclinics, plus there are opportunities to engage with other academic duties anddevelopment.

Job responsibilities
This post is available at 0.2FTE. Thepost is primarily focussed upon undergraduate and postgraduate clinicaleducation, with the potential to contribute to educational research. We are seeking an outstanding individual withgood experience in general dental practice to contribute to teaching, clinicalsupervision and associated academic duties commensurate with the level and FTEof the role. The role requires active and enthusiastic commitment to teachingand the delivery of high-quality student-led patient care. Excellentinter-personal skills to foster collaborative approaches with existing teachingand research programmes in the Bristol Dental School and Faculty are highlydesirable.

* Willingness to travel to and work in other sites necessitated by the role
* Commitment to Primary Care Dentistry and whole patient care
* Ability to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional and national levels.
Qualifications
* BDS or equivalent
* Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
* Membership of appropriate Defence Society
* MFDS/MJDF or equivalent
* Higher Degree e.g., MSc, DDS, PhD
* Fellow of the Higher Education Academy or qualification in Teaching and Learning (e.g., TLHP)
Experience
* Current clinical practice in a General Dental Practice or PCDS setting
* A working knowledge of clinical governance and to participate in audit and quality improvement projects
* Ability to prioritise, organise time appropriately and work independently
* Ability to work under pressure and cope with setbacks
* Able to maintain contemporaneous, clear and legible clinical notes
* Broad range of IT skills
* Capable of involvement in day-to-day clinical management in the unit
* Knowledge of when to refer patients to specialist services
* Evidence of personal development training and commitment to learning
* Current clinical practice
* Significant post qualification experience (ideally 4 years minimum)
* Experience of teaching and training in dentistry
* Ability to organise own learning as demonstrated via professional portfolio
* Publications in peer reviewed journals
* Experience of working with other dental & medical specialties
* Experience in managing patient complaints
* Familiar with current structure of the Health Service including the commissioning of dental services
* Ability to organise efficient and smooth running of a clinical service
* Presented or published the results of audit and quality improvement reports
* Able to demonstrate evidence within presentations and publications
* An interest and/or knowledge of adult education
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients and their relatives/carers, clinical colleagues, support staff and other colleagues
* Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team
* Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual and multi-professional basis with all levels of staff both within and across divisions.
