We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist interested in gaining experience within a Clinical Health Psychology setting to contribute to the clinical, research, and professional activities of our internationally respected Department. The team includes clinical psychologists, psychological therapists, a family counsellor, and an administrator. The role will work alongside our current assistant psychologist.
We have a demonstrated commitment to research, publishing over 140 papers. We regularly employ Assistant Psychologists (AP), with the majority progressing to training, and provide placements for Clinical Psychology Trainees. We are part of a thriving Trust Psychological Service with 11 other clinical services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the psychological health screening of inpatients at the NSIC and liaise with other spinal cord injury centres to implement national psychological and complex mental health standards and pathways.
2. Support the psychological assessment and treatment of spinal cord injured inpatients across the lifespan admitted to the NSIC, under supervision from a clinical psychologist.
3. Assist in providing the internationally renowned Stoke Mandeville Spinal Needs Assessment and Goal Planning Programme. Be a Keyworker for patients and support routine data collection and audit.
4. Contribute to the development of patient information and psychosocial education materials at the NSIC.
5. Support trainees and students on placement or work experience at the Department under the supervision of the NSIC Head of Clinical Psychology.
This role involves clinical research and direct contact with inpatients across the lifespan, including overseeing psychological health screening. Applicants should possess a good degree in Psychology. Experience as an AP or postgraduate experience in clinical research is preferred but not essential. Operational knowledge of Excel, SPSS, and statistics is essential.
