Toolmaker – Precision Manufacturing
Location: Hythe, Kent
Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 (negotiable dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with a 1pm finish on Fridays!

Pearson Whiffin Recruitment is working with a long-established precision engineering business operating within a high-quality, safety-critical manufacturing environment. The organisation specialises in producing complex metal components and tooling to exacting standards and has built a strong reputation for stability, craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for an experienced Toolmaker who enjoys hands-on problem solving, working closely with production teams and taking genuine pride in the reliability and performance of the tooling they produce and maintain.
The Role
Manufacture, maintain and repair press tools and production tooling to a high standard
Diagnose tooling issues and carry out modifications to improve performance and reliability
Work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications to produce accurate tooling components
Support continuous improvement by applying knowledge gained from historic tool failures and repairs
Use a range of toolroom equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders and wire erosion
Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to support manufacturing output
Maintain safe working practices and high standards of housekeeping within the toolroom
About You
Proven experience working as a Toolmaker within a manufacturing or toolroom environment
Strong background in press tooling or precision metal components
Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience using both manual and CNC toolroom machinery
Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working as part of a close-knit, hands-on engineering team
Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent engineering training preferred
