Service Manager
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £55,000 – £58,000 + Vehicle + Benefits
Neos Engineering are supporting a leading UK power generation business as they continue to expand their national operations across gas engines, flexible generation and modern energy assets. They are now seeking an experienced Service Manager with a strong engineering background to lead a regional team and act as a key Area Manager across multiple power generation sites.
This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, reliable and high-performance operation of gas reciprocating engines and associated plant across your region.
The Role
As Service Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, field engineering activity and maintenance delivery across power generation sites running Jenbacher, MTU, MAN and CAT gas engines.
Key responsibilities include:
• Manage, coach and lead a team of field engineers across the region
• Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance across power generation assets
• Ensure safe working, compliance and operational excellence at all times
• Provide technical support and guidance during complex faults or breakdowns
• Optimise plant uptime, availability and performance across the area
• Manage contractors, OEM partners and specialist service providers
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, CMMS data and asset information
• Work closely with senior operations leadership to deliver KPIs and budgets
• Support commissioning, handover and mobilisation of new sites
• Build a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement
The Candidate
We are looking for a proven engineering leader with strong technical grounding.
Essential:
• Background in power generation, gas engines or heavy rotating machinery
• Experience managing or supervising engineers (Supervisor, Service Manager, Area Manager, Lead Engineer etc.)
• Hands-on understanding of Jenbacher, MTU, MAN or CAT engines
• Strong organisational, reporting and problem-solving capability
• A leader who can build high performance and ensure safety-first culture
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites
Desirable:
• Experience with battery storage, CHP, or multi-MW energy systems
• CMMS experience
• ONC/HNC or time-served engineering background
