We’re looking for an experienced and confident communications professional to join Hafod on a nine-month fixed term contract. You will provide day-to-day leadership and coordination for a team of Communications officers, championing their work and serving as the main link between the team and Senior Leadership.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on delivery with team leadership, and who is passionate about creating clear, engaging communications that connect with customers, colleagues and stakeholders across our communities.
What you’ll do
As Senior Communications Officer, you’ll lead and coordinate our team of specialist Communications Officers, acting as their advocate and key link with senior leaders. You’ll support the team day to day, ensuring confidence, collaboration and continuity across all communications activity.
Alongside this, you’ll deliver high-quality communications content, translating complex information into clear, engaging and accessible messages across a range of channels. You’ll monitor and evaluate communications performance, manage budgets, contribute to the annual action plan and ensure all content meets Hafod’s standards for quality, accessibility, brand and governance.
You’ll work closely with customers, colleagues and stakeholders to capture lived experience and customer voice, using storytelling to demonstrate impact and support Hafod’s strategic ambitions.
What you’ll need
You’ll have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in communications or marketing, with experience of delivering and evaluating communications campaigns. You’ll be an excellent writer with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt content for different audiences and platforms.
You’ll be confident using digital and design tools (such as Canva or InDesign), web and intranet platforms, and analytics tools including Google Analytics or Power BI. Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practice communications is essential.
You’ll be comfortable leading and supporting others in a collaborative way, managing multiple priorities and working across teams. Strong organisational skills, initiative and a positive, “can-do” approach are key. A full UK driving licence and access to a car is required.
