Job Summary

Lead, manage and coordinate all aspects of the practice, motivating and managing staff, optimising efficiency and financial performance, ensuring the practice achieves its long‑term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.

Through innovative ways of working, lead the team in promoting Equality Diversity and Inclusion, quality and continuous improvement, confidentiality, collaborative working, service delivery, learning and development and ensure the organisation complies with UK legislation and both NHS and CQC regulations.


Core Responsibilities

* Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring staff fulfil their primary responsibilities.
* Maintain compliance with all relevant CQC guidelines, identifying issues and improving processes where possible.
* Ensure the practice meets its NHS contractual obligations.
* Collaborate with the finance team to oversee financial management, supporting strategic budgeting and income streams.
* Monitor contract performance, key deliverables and expiration dates to mitigate risk and avoid service disruptions.
* Identify opportunities to improve workflows and efficiency through better use of clinical systems (e.g. Rapid Health, EMIS and X‑On).


HR Responsibilities

* Direct line management
* Recruitment and retention of staff
* Staff training and inductions


Finance Responsibilities

* Maximise income at all times and discharge all financial responsibilities in a timely manner.


Premises Responsibilities

* Maintain the general upkeep of the surgery.
* Manage the procurement of organisational equipment, supplies and service contracts.


Information Technology and Systems Responsibilities

* Ensure compliance with IT security, Cyber security, Data security and IG; oversee procedures ensuring compliance with all relevant information and data legislation (GDPR, patient confidentiality and Caldicott Guardian).


Miscellaneous Responsibilities

* Other duties as decided by the Federation Leadership from time to time.


Working Hours

* Provision of 365‑day, 52‑week service delivery including 7 days a week from 0800 to 2000 hours.
* Required to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as part of normal working hours, as per the needs of the business.
