Job overview

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM STAFF CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY SWANSEA BAY UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD

1. As a key member of the software development process, prepare and execute software testing plans to ensure that new and upgraded systems meet the user requirements and are fit for purpose.
2. Liaise with key system users across the Trust to gather and analyse requirements in order to inform development plans for business critical clinical systems.
3. Produce accurate and unambiguous user requirement documentation to the agreed standards.
4. Assist in the planning and execution of system implementations.
5. Perform complex system administration at an application and database level.
6. Deliver formal and informal training of business critical clinical systems and standard desktop software applications to all levels of staff across the organisation in line with the standard operating procedure for training.
7. Provide user support across all systems/applications supported by the Implementation & Support Team.
8. Offer expert systems advise to junior members of the team.
9. Assist in the exploitation of technology throughout the Trust and facilitate the realisation of benefits identified from the introduction of new technology.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

10. Educated to degree level in a related subject or equivalent experience.
11. IT Training qualification
12. Quality Assurance training (formal or informal). ECDL Qualification.
13. Evidence of continuing professional development education and training.

Experience

Essential criteria

14. Minimum 3 year’s experience of quality assurance / business analysis / systems administration within a healthcare environment.
15. Experience in a patient administration environment.
16. Experience and full understanding of Patient Administration Systems and their administration at application and database level.

Desirable criteria

17. Experience of working as part of a team within a software development cycle.
18. Experience of using a project management methodology (e.g. PRINCE2).

20. Good understanding of clinical and non-clinical information needs and processes.
21. Ability to think logically and problem solve.
22. Excellent verbal & written communication & presentation skills. Ability to deliver training courses on patient information systems and Desktop applications.

24. Can demonstrate implementation of innovative ideas.
25. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
26. Understanding of NHS data standards.
27. Ability to use laptops, projectors and other presentation equipment.
28. Be able to prioritise workload and effectively manage competing demands.
29. Self motivated & enthusiastic professional.
30. Works on own initiative.
31. Ability to show patience and understanding to users at all levels.

Desirable criteria

32. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
33. Ability to travel within geographical area. Able to work hours flexibly.
34. Satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance including an Adults and Children’s Barred List check (as relevant to the Post).
