About the Role
>This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to take ownership of McGloin Baker's environmental consultancy portfolio. You' environmental planning, assessment, compliance, and management projects while driving new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Candidates must have a minimum of 6+ years of environmental consulting experience to be considered for this position.
Your role will balance technical delivery with business development, building strong relationships with clients, preparing proposals, managing project budgets, and ensuring commercial performance.
A minimum of 3+ years of proven business development experience is essential for success in this commercially focused role.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage environmental planning, assessment, compliance, and approval projects (REFs, EMPs, EISs, etc.)
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships across local government, state agencies, and private sectors
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities, preparing proposals and tenders
* Provide high-level environmental and sustainability advice across civil and infrastructure projects
* Oversee project financials, contracts, and resource allocation
* Mentor and support junior staff and subcontractors
* Ensure compliance with legislative, environmental, and safety obligations
About You
You're an experienced environmental professional who thrives in both technical delivery and business leadership. You're commercially astute, confident in front of clients, and ready to play a key role in shaping the future of our environmental division. Your background is in the civil, building or other infrastructure projects space with an extensive knowledge of the environmental requirements of these.
To succeed in this role, you'll have:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, or a related field
* Strong technical knowledge of NSW and QLD environmental legislation and approval pathways
* Proven business development skills with a track record of winning and delivering on engagements/projects
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Strong commercial and contract management capability
* Experience leading multidisciplinary projects or teams
* Current driver's licence and ability to travel regionally as required
* Australian work rights (Permanent Residency or Citizenship) are required at the time of application
