The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team. We are looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef wanting to deliver a first-class experience at the world leading hospitality company Portsmouth Marriott Hotel. Located near famous landmarks such as the Spinnaker Tower, the hotel offers Cast Iron Bar & Grill, our signature restaurant and a fitness centre. Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation for property banquets, events, and restaurant service for all meal times including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
* Utilise interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making; demonstrate honesty and integrity; lead by example.
* Lead shifts while personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications.
* Ensure culinary standards and responsibilities are met.
* Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviours.
* Collaborate successfully with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef.
* Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
* Assist in determining how food should be presented and create decorative food displays, ensuring exceptional customer service.
* Provide services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
* Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring quality, standards, and the meeting of customer expectations daily.
* Improve service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and coaching when needed.
* Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
